The Pious Union of St. Joseph
Pious Union in Honor of St. Joseph
Patron of a Happy Death for the Salvation of the Dying
By Rev. Hugolinus Storff, O.F.M. 1913 (later printing from 1930) by Orphanage Press, Chicago
This little booklet was for the members of the Little Company of St. Joseph for the Dying, a lay group of people devoted to praying for the suffering and dying in the world, for happy deaths and their final salvation.
An excerpt about the Union: “The Pious Union of St. Joseph was founded many years ago for the purpose of effectually helping the Dying to obtain through the intercession of St. Joseph, the Patron of the Dying, the grace of a Happy Death. The Little Company of St. Joseph for the Dying consists of those fervent members of the Pious Union of St. Joseph who have formally made the Act of Consecration of their life and of their life’s work for the Salvation of the Poor Dying Sinners. The members of the Little Company really consider the Salvation of the Dying the main object of their life. Under the guidance and protection of St. Joseph, the Patron of the Dying, their whole life shall be a continual pleading with the Mercy of God for the Salvation of the Poor Dying Sinners.”
This would be a nice devotional work to see make a comeback. The Pious Union still exists, piousunionofstjoseph.org, and needs more members more than ever today.
